Goddesses Light
The haiku above was one that I wrote about the Black Forest in Germany at night. There are the shadowy silhouettes of trees and rocks, mist floating along the forest floor, and the moon illuminating everything even in the darkest point of the night. "Goddess light, trees hide the inevitable, truly still home," eludes to the Goddess of the Moon shining down upon the earth, the trees and nature itself pushing our thoughts of the outside-world out of our minds, and the presence that you feel.
Cox Arboretum
Today, we went to Cox Arboretum. Cox Arboretum has a variety of gardens, trails, and wildlife habitats. The first thing I did was go to one of the gardens. It was the "Edible Landscape Garden." We had a scavenger hunt that we could do, which required us to explore the grounds. When in the garden, we could find at least three things, eat them, and see what they tasted like. The one plant that really stood out to me was this purple, bell-shaped flower. It tasted exactly like grapes, which was very interesting considering it wasn't a grape plant. The rest of the park was very fun to explore. There was something called a Tree Tower. When I climbed up it, I could see the entire park. One of the last things I did was walk along the trails. I was mostly surrounded by trees and the sounds of birds chirping. It was quiet and mind-numbing (in a good way... not in a daytime television way). Yesterday, I noticed that just sitting out in nature brings you to the present, and I felt that again today. I noticed again that it was hard to think much about anything else as well.
...Also I found a dead bird on the ground. I determined its cause of death: It was a baby bird...that didn't know how to fly...and fell out of its nest...and died.
So pretty.
